Coronavirus: 3rd stage of vaccination and prolongation of a high-alert status due to COVID-19.
On April 26th the Vologda Region Governor held a meeting with local government members and discussed the development of the coronavirus pandemic and preventive measures.
During the meeting Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov who heads the Emergency Headquarters for Infection Control in the region briefed on the current situation at the health care facilities and on the decrease rate of new cases of the coronavirus infection.
The Vologda Region Government takes all possible measures aimed to contain the spread of coronavirus infection and to reduce social contacts frequency that can contribute to the virus spread.
During the meeting it was decided that a high-alert status due to COVID-19 will last in Vologda Region till May 31.
Free voluntary vaccination campaign against the coronavirus infection is going on in the Vologda Region. The region began its vaccination campaign in December 2020, making its first vaccine against the coronavirus available to high-risk groups (namely, teachers, doctors, and social workers). Mass vaccination against COVID-19 started in the Vologda Region on January 18th. The local government opened 171 Covid-19 vaccination centres in the Vologda Region. Authorities here plan to vaccinate 60% of the domestic population by the end of the year.
Mr. Kuvshinnikov said that almost 42% of the region's hospital beds for coronavirus patients are currently occupied. As of April 26, the Vologda Region reported 44 654 cases of coronavirus.
