St. George's Ribbon Campaign dedicated to Victory Day has kicked off in Vologda Region today.
St. George Ribbon campaign to distribute black-and-orange ribbons - a symbol of the victory in World War II – will start in Vologda on April 27th and last till May 9th.
Victory Day is one of the most remarkable public events in Russia. It is traditionally celebrated on the 9th of May. The holiday marks the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in the Second World War in 1945.
Started in 2005, the campaign has become a national tradition. Orange-black ribbons are one more sign of our commemoration of the Great Victory. Every year, many people wear St. George ribbons with pleasure as a sign of memory, respect, sorrow and gratitude to the participants of the Great Patriotic War.
