Vologda Region Governor signed an agreement on construction of a sports and health centre with a skating rink in Vologda.

The sports center in Vologda will be built by 2023. The complex, with its maximum capacity of 111 people per shift, will include an artificial ice rink measuring 20 by 40 meters, changing rooms, trainers’ rooms, and other technical and utility areas.
Children and teens will be able to engage in wonderful sports, namely hockey, curling, short track and figure skating, with the help of professional trainers. The centre will also be used for public ice skating.
According to Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov, hockey and figure skating can be named one of the most popular and widespread sports disciplines in the region. “There are more and more ice skating grounds in the Vologda Region every year, the construction of a synthetic ice skating rink will give a new impetus to sports development and become an incentive for new victories,” Mr. Kuvshinnikov said.
In 2020 the Russian Government approved a project on the Russian Federation’s Strategy for the Physical Culture and Sports Development until 2030. It is one of the important steps to boost the further expansion of sports infrastructure in the country. According to the Strategy, up to 70% of Russia’s population will be exercising sports on a regular basis after the Strategy for the Physical Culture and Sports Development until 2030 is implemented. Every citizen of Russia will have equal opportunities and an access to physical culture and sports facilities to lead a healthy life-style.
