Father Frost's Sochi residence will open on the eve of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, Vologda authorities have announced. The 7.5-meter-tall two-storey building, with a total area of 526 square meters, was built at a Vologda-based factory before being transferred to Sochi's Olympic Park and assembled there during two weeks. According to a Vologda City Hall press release, "the official inauguration of Father Frost's [Olympic] residence is scheduled for the 6th of February."

On February 6, on the eve of the Olympic Games start, Father Frost or Ded Moroz, the Russian equivalent of Santa Claus, will set up his Residence at the Olympic Park in Sochi, the games’ organizers’ reports.

The Russian equivalent of Santa Claus, Father Frost, will pay a visit to the Flight Control Center in the Moscow region town of Korolyov on Sunday to wish the crew of the International Space Station a happy new year, the Flight Control Center said Monday.

Russian Ded Moroz (Father Frost) celebrated his birthday in Veliky Ustyug on November 18. He said he is over two thousand years old now and announced the countdown to the New Year holidays.
