Father Frost's Sochi residence will open on the eve of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, Vologda authorities have announced. The 7.5-meter-tall two-storey building, with a total area of 526 square meters, was built at a Vologda-based factory before being transferred to Sochi's Olympic Park and assembled there during two weeks. According to a Vologda City Hall press release, "the official inauguration of Father Frost's [Olympic] residence is scheduled for the 6th of February."

The Russian equivalent of Santa Claus, Father Frost, will pay a visit to the Flight Control Center in the Moscow region town of Korolyov on Sunday to wish the crew of the International Space Station a happy new year, the Flight Control Center said Monday.
