Veliky Ustyug is a town in the northeast of Vologda Oblast. In the past it was one of the major cities of Russian North. Since the 1999, Veliky Ustyug was declared as the residence of Ded Moroz, a Russian analogue of Santa Claus. The residence, which is a resort promoted as the Votchina (Estate), of Ded Moroz, is a major tourist attraction.

Monrovia, December 18, 2012 – OAO Severstal (“Severstal” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce that the transaction between its indirect subsidiary Lybica Holding B.V. and Mano River Iron Ore Holdings Limited (“Mano”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Afferro Mining Inc. (“Afferro”), on purchasing a 38.5% minority interest in Severstal Liberia Iron Ore has been closed. Lybica has paid the remaining US$50 million to Mano in accordance with the amended agreement, which was announced on December 14. Thus, the company now holds a 100% interest in the Putu Iron Ore project in Liberia and has no further obligations under the agreement towards Afferro.

About the City

Grandfather Frost
Ded Moroz or Father Frost, the Slavic version of Santa Claus, long ago became the symbol of Russian winter, New Year's and presents. He is usually accompanied by his granddaughter Snegurochka riding with an evergreen tree in a traditional Russian troika, a sleigh drawn by three horses abreast.
